Do What You Love To Do.
ByI have been reading some really cool blogs lately whose authors seem to really enjoy what they do for a living. Many of them share their insights on how you can pursue your dream and make money at it as well. I have always dreamed about a few things I would love to do from a personal and professional standpoint. I have read great authors who have talked about following your passion or bliss – regardless if you get paid or not. But is this reality or a big pipe dream?
I wonder if this is just something that hits on the human heart and it a great way to sell your blog, books, or speaking engagements.
What about the responsibilities that one has to provide for the family or needs of others? How do you chase something that you dream about doing (and have wanted to do for years) and keep juggling the balls you must juggle in the air? Should you do what you love despite the cost or outcome?
Amy, those are good thoughts that you have and reasonable questions to consider. I personally believe we are here not to just exist but because of a purpose. Maybe our purpose involves taking care of others as oppose to just ourselves.
Yet, realistically speaking we are each here for a specific purpose and it is up to us to discover what that is. It usually centers around something we are good at, as in having the gift of…etc.
Take time to reflect on people you have known, and you should discover that each of these persons had a certain quality about them, that impressed you and others. Those who used those gifts, you may notice became somebody of substance and those who did not became…so, so, nothing special.
Now, take a look at yourself in comparison to these people and you may notice that you have something that they may not have. You may be good at something that they are incompetent at.
When we discover and pursue what we are good at we become “somebody” and when we don’t, the opposite is usually true, we become just someone who exists, no one special, accomplishing nothing to talk about.
Michael Jackson may have been weird, but he had something special about him and he developed that something into a musical genius and stage performer unlike no other before him.
Think about it!
